Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps taken by Storage Biggin Hill to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We are committed to conducting business ethically, transparently, and in full respect of human rights. This statement covers our financial year and will be reviewed and updated annually.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Biggin Hill has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour, and servitude. We expect the same high standards from all parties with whom we work, including suppliers, contractors, and business partners. Any involvement in, or tolerance of, modern slavery is fundamentally incompatible with our values and our approach to responsible business.
Our policy applies to all employees, agency workers, contractors, and directors. It is integrated into our wider approach to ethical conduct, health and safety, and workplace dignity and respect. Breaches of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contracts, and may be reported to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Biggin Hill provides storage and related services to a wide range of customers. Our supply chains include facilities management, security, maintenance, construction and refurbishment services, utilities, technology providers, and various professional services. We recognise that certain sectors and regions may carry higher risks of modern slavery, and we are working to identify and manage these risks proactively.
We seek to build long-term relationships with suppliers that share our commitment to ethical conduct. We are progressively embedding modern slavery considerations into our procurement and vendor management practices.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We require suppliers and contractors to comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws. Where appropriate, we incorporate contractual provisions that prohibit the use of forced, trafficked, or child labour and that require suppliers to cascade equivalent standards through their own supply chains.
Storage Biggin Hill undertakes proportionate supplier due diligence, which may include checks on ownership, geographic operations, labour practices, and available certifications. For higher-risk suppliers and categories, we reserve the right to conduct audits, request supporting documentation, and hold review meetings to assess compliance with our standards.
If an audit or review identifies concerns, we will work with the supplier to develop a corrective action plan with clear timelines. In cases of serious or persistent non-compliance, we may suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage employees, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns about modern slavery, human trafficking, or unethical labour practices connected to Storage Biggin Hill. Concerns may include suspected abuses within our operations or those of our suppliers and contractors.
Reports can be made through our internal reporting channels, including line managers or senior management, and via our whistleblowing procedures. We are committed to handling all reports sensitively, investigating them promptly where appropriate, and taking remedial action as required. We do not tolerate retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith.
Training and Awareness
We are working to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among employees who are most likely to encounter them, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, and facilities operations. Training and guidance highlight the indicators of exploitation, how to report concerns, and our zero-tolerance stance.
We also encourage suppliers to raise awareness of modern slavery within their own operations and to ensure that workers know their rights and available channels for raising concerns.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. Storage Biggin Hill will review this statement and our related policies and procedures on an annual basis, or more frequently if required by legislative or organisational changes.
As part of our annual review, we will assess the effectiveness of our actions, consider feedback from stakeholders, and identify opportunities for improvement. This may include refining our risk assessments, enhancing supplier due diligence and audits, expanding training programmes, and updating our reporting mechanisms.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Storage Biggin Hill and represents our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our business.
